Players to consider from relegated teams
If Hull City go down CB Maguire and LW Grosicki might be worth a punt, Sunderland keeper Jordan Pickford will be on his way to a Prem club for sure and Swansea will have trouble hanging on to Sigurdsson and Llorente. Not sure about Defoe, his age is catching up with him.

"scored once in 14 games up to the weekend."

By the same token, scored 7 in the first 14 games of the season

and was actually 1 in 11 last, and 3 in 12. For a team who have looked relegated since Christmas.

Apart from Pickford i can't see many i would want, names like Borini are just a joke surely . Traoré is a weird one , looks a world beater at times but flatters to deceive ..

Defoe may be worth a shout ,
Sigurdsson & Llorente are clearly quality but i don't think Swansea will go down now
I like Robertson but don;t think we need a left back, Huddlestone , no thanks we have enough imobile midfielders

Blunders. We are ost definitely not ok in midfiled and the last thing we need is another slow carthorse like fucking Huddlestone

And what are the rest of you thinking about banging on about Defoe for. Again, legs gone, scored once in 14 games up to the weekend. 35 years old, why would you want him at this stage of his career.

But lets be honest, no ambition, no funds, no transfer policy, no chance with the better younger players out there. The usual frees and loans and a panic buy at the end of the window. Plus everyone else saying calm down, knicker wetters there's still loads of time yet. Just like last season actually

HULL

Abel Hernandez is no better than what we have, he's actually worse.

And Markovic is Liverpool's player. They don't own him. And not convinced with him anyway.

I quite like Huddlestone, but we're probably ok in central midfield.

SUNDERLAND

I've already said Pickford but we won't get him. I'd take Defoe.

Duncan Watmore might be a shout, but he's currently out with a cruciate injury.

Whoever said Seb Larsson, no. Just no.

BORO

Negredo is on loan. They don't own him. And I'd rather have Llorente.

I haven't seen much of Ben Gibson but he has a good reputation.

Adama Traoré is raw as fuck but you don't play that many games for Barcelona's B team without having something about you.

SWANSEA

Fabianski is not as good as the keepers we have.

Llorente and Sigurðsson both improve our squad.

Tom Carroll maybe? is a younger version of Noble.

Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
We should only be looking at players that will really improve on what we've got or have a lot of potential

Defoe is an option but not on £5m a year
Pickford is a no brainier to go in for but I doubt we'll get him
Lone and don't have been ok at Sunderland but I don't think we need either of them. The only other one would be the guy who scored from the corner against us whose name escapes me but looks like he has something about him and would offer pace and trickery off the bench at least (more so than snodgrass or feghouli)

Hulls keeper has been very good and has an Adrian type passion to him. I like ranochia too - I think he's only on loan, but has looked decent and would solve the right side issue.

Traore is a raw talent but would be worth a go - he should only get better and in fairness we have developed Lanzini and Antonio well in the last 18 months. Wouldn't touch any other boro players except gibson but he'll go elsewhere

If palace go down, the vultures can have a field day!

Swansea would be sigurdsson and literate if his wages aren't much. Again they have a very good young centre back but we don't need that right now and those funds need to go on a striker

Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
We all know its a nailed on cert we'll go for Defoe, pressure will be on to find a striker that can stay fit for the bulk of the season. Pickford will go to one of the top 6 sides, likely City as Guardiola won't eat humble pie and reinstate Hart as no.1; according to papers Bravo is looking to leave.

You're talking bollocks. Who have I talked down except for Noble and Larsson is an improvement on him.

Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
Traore has the raw materials but has now been in relegated sides twice without really doing anything stand out. Suspect his end product is limited and he flatters to deceive.

I'd have Fabianski, Sigurdsson, Montero, and Llorente off of Swansea. All more than decent players that would improve our squad and push hard for places in our first team.

Middlesbrough...don't know enough about them to comment. The games I watched them play us I don't recall anyone stand out.

Sunderland...no interest in Defoe as his wages are too big for a back up and we shouldnt be looking at him first choice. The keeper will go for huge money to a bigger team than us (so no luck there) and the rest have been gash.

Hull...Maguire, Hernandez, Niasse, Ranocchia, and Marckovic would interest me.

Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
i highly doubt we will get him, even if they get relegated he.ll end up going for about 30m and probably to someone like everton as a replacement for barkley. perhaps liverpool or maybe arsenal depending on who they lose.

Swiss, you have talked down Slaven and our midfield almost all season, and then you suggest we should get Larsson from Sland? FMOB

Tell you what do what G&S do. Go on Squawka find the player position you need and look at top ranked. Then tell the fans we are in the market for them.

spandex

we have done well playing that system recently, granted, but that won't work against everyone, and every team needs to be able to play several formations. antonio is a good wing back due to his energy, but as a fullback his positional sense when getting forward is lacking when he needs to get back. we need a right back, we have been screaming out for a top quality one for years. to suggest we don't need one is foolish and naive.

Spandex Sidney 7:18 Mon May 8
Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
We don't need a right back, we need a back up right wing back. All our strengths point to a back three, as we have seen recently.

To play a back 4 as well will take much more summer surgery.
